Mike Belcher, a commentator active on social media, posted a series of tweets on August 12, 2025, addressing issues related to federal jurisdiction, property rights, and the role of government.
In his first tweet at 12:27 UTC, Belcher questioned the lack of legal action in response to certain activities. He wrote, “The actions described here are a crime the FBI has jurisdiction over. So, why aren’t charges accompanying this?”
Later that day at 17:22 UTC, Belcher discussed political party definitions and property rights. He stated, ‘”R” means “Republican,” which, if it is to mean anything, ought to mean one who is seeking to institute a republican form of government (per Article 4 Section 4). What is being described here regarding local arbitrary taking of property rights is fundamentally democracy.’
In his third post at 18:29 UTC, Belcher critiqued what he views as an inversion of governmental roles and property norms. He commented, “This fundamentally inverts both the role of civil government and the nature of property rights (on top of being radically elitist). Should those ‘dirty, low-class’ service workers be allowed to live in Santa Barbara? I don’t know. Can they afford it? Could they afford it absent”
Belcher’s references include Article IV Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees every state a republican form of government. His remarks also touch on ongoing debates about housing affordability and local governance practices concerning property rights.
