Mike Bordes, the incoming Mayor of Laconia, recently shared updates and opinions on his Twitter account about his personal New Year’s celebration, the upcoming inauguration ceremony, and a legislative issue concerning local governance.
On January 1, 2026, Bordes commented on his New Year’s Eve experience. He wrote, “Happy New Year! While some of you were out clinking glasses and pretending you still know the words to “Don’t Stop Believin’,” I was in bed by 9 PM with zero shame. Woke up feeling like I made Olympic level responsible choices. Rolling into 2026 rested, hydrated, and thriving.”
The following day, January 2, Bordes announced details about the upcoming inauguration for Laconia’s city officials. In his tweet he stated, “The Inauguration for Laconia’s Mayor and City Council is this Monday, Jan 5 at 6 PM at the Belknap Mill. I’m honored to serve as your next Mayor and hope to see you there. Grateful to Governor Ayotte for joining us and to Sheriff Bill Wright for serving as Master of Ceremonies.” The event will take place at the historic Belknap Mill.
On January 3, Bordes addressed concerns regarding House Bill 675 (HB 675), which he criticized for its impact on local governance. He tweeted: “Let’s be honest: HB 675 centralizes power, overrides local voters, and forces towns to send “extra” tax dollars to Concord. That’s not tax relief it’s blatant disregard for local control.”
Mike Bordes will soon begin his term as Mayor of Laconia after being elected in late 2025. The inauguration event is expected to draw state officials including Governor Ayotte and Sheriff Bill Wright.
