Rep. James Thibault, a legislator from New Hampshire, made several statements on social media between December 14 and December 15, 2025, addressing issues ranging from state investment to campus safety.
On December 14, Thibault promoted his home state, stating “The only New England state worth investing in. Safest, lowest taxes, best places to live, and best place to raise a family.”
The following day, he commented on violence against young conservatives: “This is a horrific outrage. Young conservatives are under attack by people who hate us merely for our beliefs and love of country, and they’re willing to commit violence to achieve their goals. I’ll be praying for Ella and her family, and for the protection and guidance of those” (December 15).
Later that morning, Thibault advocated for changes in campus safety policies following the murder of Ella Cook: “The murder of Ella Cook just proves why we need to PASS CAMPUS CARRY. Armed students can defend themselves against hate-filled radicals. Proud to be a cosponsor of the Protecting College Students Act to protect these students’ rights and help them protect themselves.” (December 15).
Thibault’s support for “campus carry” legislation reflects ongoing debates in U.S. states about whether college students should be permitted to carry firearms on campuses as a means of self-defense. The referenced Protecting College Students Act aligns with similar proposals seen nationwide aimed at expanding gun rights for college-aged adults.
New Hampshire has historically been recognized for its low crime rates and favorable tax climate compared to other New England states.
