Rep. James Thibault, a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, recently addressed several education-related issues on his social media account. In a series of posts made on August 26 and 27, 2025, Thibault commented on campus safety, standardized testing policies in New Hampshire, and leadership at the U.S. Department of Education.
On August 26, Thibault voiced support for student self-defense rights on college campuses. He stated: “Looking forward to supporting it. Students have just as much a right to defend themselves on-campus as they would have anywhere else.”
The following day, he raised a question regarding statewide education policy by posting: “Should NH reform its standardized testing policies?” This inquiry reflects ongoing debates within the state about the effectiveness and structure of standardized assessments used in public schools.
Later that same day, Thibault expressed approval regarding changes in federal education leadership with his post: “Finally some competent leadership for our students at @usedgov!” The U.S. Department of Education (@usedgov) oversees national education policy and initiatives affecting students across the country.
Thibault’s comments come amid broader discussions in New Hampshire about educational reforms and campus security measures. As a state legislator representing New Hampshire’s interests, his views contribute to public conversations around these key issues.
