Rep. James Thibault, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, shared several opinions on government spending and education policy in a series of posts on his official X account on October 14 and 15, 2025.
In a post published on October 14, Thibault expressed support for recent federal budget decisions: “Glad we have a federal government that cuts wasteful spending on indoctrinating, mutilating, and killing children”.
Later the same day, he highlighted the importance of vocational training and business involvement in supporting skilled trades: “Trades are the future and it’s always great to see businesses supporting them!”.
On October 15, Thibault addressed local school funding issues in New Hampshire. He referenced specific districts while voicing concerns about financial responsibility: “Franklin and Winnisquam have their own struggles, as do other schools and districts. Our community and the rest of the state shouldn’t be on the hook for Claremont’s irresponsible spending”.
These statements come amid ongoing debates over education funding in New Hampshire. The Claremont decision refers to a series of court rulings beginning in the 1990s which determined that New Hampshire has a constitutional obligation to provide adequate funding for public education statewide. The resulting changes led to significant state-level contributions to local school budgets but have remained controversial among some lawmakers and communities regarding fiscal equity and local control.
Thibault’s comments reflect ongoing discussions about how educational resources are allocated across different districts within New Hampshire and highlight his advocacy for both fiscal restraint at the state level and increased emphasis on trade-based education.
