Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
Date: Thursday Oct 28, 2021
Time: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM EDT
Janice Hibbard was born and raised in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Her love of animals and interest in crafts developed as a child. Her journey with leather began 42 years ago. As she was working on her teaching degree and working at Barnes and Noble, she found a book on leather craft. She went the next day to two leather companies in the Boston area and purchased her first hide and tools to create a leather vest that she still wears today.
Janice will be doing a live demo, showing stamping and carving techniques on leather. The type and thickness on the leathers are used for different products and will be discussed as well as painting techniques on leather. Come learn about this craft and, perhaps, be inspired to buy your first hide and tools.
Janice’s work will be on display at the Wolfeboro Library from October 14 - October 28. Artwork can be purchased by the artist the night of the presentation. As part of Lakes Center for the Arts (LCA) mission to promote and support the success of area artists, 100% of proceeds from all sales go directly to the featured artist.
LCA provides an honorarium to artists in the Meet the Artists Series which is organized in partnership with area public libraries in Gilford, Meredith, Moultonborough, and Wolfeboro. It will be an ongoing series each month.
