Town of Gilmanton issued the following announcement on March 15.
On March 8, 2022, the Town voted to adopt the All Veterans' Tax Credit pursuant RSA 72:28-b.
What does this mean? ANY Veteran who served a minimum of 90 days on active duty in the United States armed forces and was honorably discharged now qualifies for the $500 credit on their primary residence (must be a resident of NH for 1 year preceding April 1 in the year applying). Prior to this adoption, the Veteran would needed to have served during a qualifying war time as prescribed in RSA 72:28. This also applies to the spouse or surviving spouse of a Veteran.
This credit takes affect for the 2022 tax year. The deadline for applying is April 15, 2022. Applications can be found here or can be requested from the Selectmen's Office.
Those currently recieving the Standard Veterans Credit do not need to reapply. Your credit will remain in place.
