The Laconia Planning Board is considering amending the Table of Dimensional Requirements which is part of the City’s Zoning Ordinance. The table defines things like setbacks required in the different zoning districts, minimum lot sizes, and green space requirements. There are a series of proposed changes to the table that have been forwarded from the Master Plan Steering Committee. The changes involve adjustments to green space requirements in multiple zoning districts, changes in minimum lot sizes in two districts, and increases in housing density allowed in two districts.
The proposed changes are aimed at achieving three principal objectives: The first is to bring Laconia’s regulations more in line with surrounding communities or other communities elsewhere in NH that are similar to Laconia. The second is to bring more existing lots into conformance with the Zoning Ordinance. The third is to allow existing homes in older neighborhoods to perhaps make some improvements without requiring a variance.
A Public Hearing on the amendments will be held during the Planning Board meeting of June 7, 2022.
