Artist Bios Katie Dobbins With moving lyrics and mesmerizing melodies, folk-pop artist Katie Dobbins captivates audiences and opens hearts. Whether performing solo or with a band, in front of twenty or one-hundred people, Dobbins brings energy and a personal touch to every show. A story-teller at heart, her catchy words and sense of humor will have you nodding and singing along in no time. Katie’s mission is to share music and light wherever she goes, which is reflected in recent heart-warming reviews from show attendees like “your songs are like getting a warm hug from a friend” and “this show was full of love, light, and positivity.” Her two albums She Is Free and There Is Light have earned her recognition at several local award shows and are available on all streaming platforms. Ariel Strasser Ariel Strasser is a singer, songwriter and pianist based in Boston, Massachusetts. She brings her native Minnesotan charm to all her live performances, sharing stories, laughs and general quirkiness with her audiences. 2019 brought two New England Music Award nominations including one for “Songwriter of the Year” and one for “Album of the year” for her newest release “Motivation”. She is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Musical Theater program. During her time at the Conservatory, she helped pilot the Songwriting Emphasis program within the Theater Department, helping to develop the curriculum that still exists today. Strasser has performed in festivals around Greater New England including The Boston Arts Festival, The Town & the City Festival and more. She has toured with and opened for national artists such as Chris Trapper (of the Push Stars), Lucy Wainwright Roche, Antigone Rising, and Brooke Annibale. When she isn’t touring the country delivering her soulful pop tunes, she teaches music and songwriting and serves as the Vice President for Artistic Programs at ArtsBridge helping to train the next generation of artists. She lives with her guitarist husband, Ken Budka, and two fluffy cats, Bertie and Huey. Audrey Drake Years of hard work, classical training, and real life experience are the driving forces behind her original music. Haunting melodies and soulful lyrics transport you to a place where there is only you, the music, and life’s journey. Audrey’s path has led her from her operatic and choral background to center stage with her guitar, from familiar venues to intimate house concerts, coast to coast recording studios and projects to main stage headlining shows. She released her first CD, Soul To Keep in 2008. Her latest CD, The Next Best Thing, attracted several amazing national artists from Boston, Nova Scotia and Nashville who have shared stages with Willie Nelson, Jars of Clay, Amos Lee & Natalie McMaster. Her first full length video, Running Out Of Time, was released in 2020 as well. Audrey’s stage presence is warm, authentic, personal and completely relatable. Her lyrics tell of old family history and her own experiences and are knit together with gorgeous melodies, an expressive velvet voice and her fine guitar playing. The listener is drawn in, wanting to hear every evocative word and tone. As one fan describes her experience; “Audrey’s songs are heard in the heart” Adine Storer Combining a truly unique musical style with her formal study and a desire to tell stories that speak to us all, an evening spent with Audrey Drake is like an evening spent with any of the great soulful singers of our time. Photo by Maundy Mitchell Photography A Listening Room Experience Hermit Woods is excited to bring talented artists from New England and beyond to perform for you. Each performance will provide you with an intimate, up-close, and personal experience with the performing artists. We ask our audience please refrain from talking during the featured show. Your silence will allow the artists and the audience to immerse themselves in the experience, which is not otherwise possible in larger, noisier environments.
