Town of Alton: Master Plan Workshop: Meeting the Needs of Alton’s Growing Senior Population

Town of Alton recently issued the following announcement.

Dates: Friday, September 24, 2021 

Time: 6:00pm to 7:30pm

The Town of Alton Master Plan Committee invites members of the Alton Community to upcoming Master Plan Workshops to share their ideas and opinions on the direction of Alton’s next Master Plan. These 90-minute workshops will enable community members to share opinions, ideas, and concerns about the past, present, and future of Alton.

WORKSHOP DATES & TOPICS
Friday, September 10, 2021: Defining Small Town Character
Workshop to begin promptly at 6:00 pm
During this workshop, community members will help define the essential ingredients of small-town character. They’ll identify what in Alton’s environment and landscape helps to create the small-town atmosphere.

Friday, September 17, 2021: Right-Sizing Business Development for Alton
Workshop to begin promptly at 6:00 pm
During this workshop, community members will help define what makes a business a good fit for Alton, identifying size, type, and other desirable characteristics. Community members will also discuss industry, location, and land use as it relates to right-sizing business development.

Friday, September 24, 2021: Meeting the Needs of Alton’s Growing Senior Population
Workshop to begin promptly at 6:00 pm
During this workshop, members of the community will help to define housing and resource needs for senior members of the community.

These first three workshops are another vital step towards crafting a Master Plan that accurately reflects the values, needs, and priorities of Alton community members. The Master Plan Committee hopes to schedule additional workshops in the future, and continue to solicit opinions of community members in each stage of the process.
